Children's Ministry Opportunites
Christian education opportunities abound at First Reformed Church. It is our desire to teach Biblically accurate materials in an age appropriate manner so that students will understand their need for Christ and a desire to grow spiritually. Our effort to keep class size small helps to provide positive student-teacher relationships at every age level.
Kidzone + The Zone
Kidzone and The Zone are FUN and safe places to come after school for kids in the community ranging from Kindergarten through Eighth grade. Kidzone is for kids K-4th grade and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while The Zone is for 5th-8th grade and meets on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Children in Worship + Discipleship Hour
Children in Worship gives children age 4-5 the opportunity to experience worship at their age level during the sermon portion of morning worship. Their schedule includes quiet time while a Bible story is presented, free time to interact with peers, opportunity to work on creative projects, or listen to stories read by adult helpers. The worship time is closed with prayer time in which the children are encouraged to participate. Visitors are welcome!
Discipleship Hour is held on Sundays from September through May. Classes are available for all children ages 3 through 12th grade. A variety of adult electives are also offered throughout the year.
Family Night (WEdnesday Night)
Family Night classes are offered on Wednesday nights for kindergarten through eighth grade. Wednesday night activities include Kids'Evangelism Explosion, Philia and AWANA programs. We also offer fun and exciting opportunities for Middle School and Youth. Family Night runs from September through March.
We provide three different nursery rooms during the Sunday morning service. We have separate rooms for infants (0-17mo), toddlers (18-35mo) and movers (36-48mo). These rooms are located in the North Wing of the church facility. Please see the Nursery hostess if you have questions about the nursery. Parents are also welcome to use the nurseries with their children during our evening worship service.
Katelyn's Fund Orphan Ministry
The Katelyn's Fund Orphan Ministry seeks to offer financial, emotional, and prayer support to Christian families who feel God is calling them to adopt. The long term impact of this ministry is not only to save lives in the literal sense but also eternally, by calling Christian families to consider adopting or to support those who are adopting. See the Katelyn's Fund Orphan Ministry website for more information.
Inspiration Hills Camp and Retreat Center offers Christian summer camps each summer for area youth. There are day camps for children entering grades 1-4. These camps are like the resident camps except children go home each evening to sleep. There are wilderness camps for children entering grades 4-6; students of grades 7-9 can be guides during wilderness camps. There are also lodge camps for children 3-9. Our church pays 50% of the cost of camp for all members and for children unable to attend camp because of their financial situation.
